A Design-Lover’s Dream Anniversary at the Shelborne Hotel, Miami

By Nicole Roe

Geoff and I recently celebrated our anniversary with a dreamy escape to the newly reimagined Shelborne Hotel in Miami—and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

The hotel itself is a gem with serious history. Originally built in the 1940s, the Shelborne is an iconic part of South Beach’s Art Deco legacy. What makes it especially magical now is the stunning transformation led by none other than Kelly Wearstler. Her redesign honors the hotel’s rich architectural past while breathing in a fresh, contemporary spirit. Think timeless glamour with a wildly inspiring twist.

From the moment we walked into the lobby, I was obsessed. The reception area had this incredible energy—bold but calming—and every corner was layered with hundreds of plants, creating this lush, curated jungle vibe. Furniture and decor throughout the hotel were all about medium contrast—different patterns and textures that somehow worked together perfectly. It felt like living inside an artful, design-forward Pinterest board.

Though still in its soft opening phase, everything felt polished and intentional. We enjoyed breakfast both mornings by the pool, which was just stunning. The pool furniture was next-level comfortable—you could lounge for hours without even thinking about getting up. The beach is just steps away, and the hotel provides chairs and umbrellas, making it effortless to dip into full relaxation mode.

The gym blew us away—equipped with top-tier brands, beautifully lit, and yes, even vintage furniture accents. As someone who pays attention to details, I was thrilled to see Bloom energy drinks stocked in the fridge—my absolute favorite.

Our room had a sweeping view of the ocean that made it hard to leave. The luxury toiletries and thoughtful extras like high-quality sunscreen were the perfect touch, especially for a beachside stay.

Every moment at the Shelborne was relaxing, inspiring, and filled with design details I’ll be drawing from for a long time. Whether you’re a fellow interiors lover or just looking for a refined escape, this spot is something special—and I can’t wait to go back.
