The Salty Angler

Full Service Renovation
4 bedroom, 2 bathroom 2,735 sq. ft.

Client Brief:
The initial scope focused on updating the exterior siding, windows, interior paint, flooring, and furnishings. However, as the project evolved, it became clear that a full renovation was necessary to maximize the home's potential for the client, his family, customers, and team members.

Beyond being a personal retreat, the home needed to function as a gathering space for business, leisure, and even special events, including weddings this spring. The primary goal was to create a masculine yet elevated coastal home that felt sophisticated—not a typical cheesy beach house. The design needed to support comfortable group accommodations, providing a functional, relaxed environment for men to unwind after a long day of open-water fishing while maintaining a refined, well-curated aesthetic.

Inspiration for the project:

The inspiration came from how the men would actually use the space and challenging the typical expectations of a male-dominated home. Traditionally, one might expect dark colors, aged wood, and oversized furniture, but we took a different approach. While we layered in rich, masculine tones, we also kept the space light, bright, and fresh, avoiding the heaviness often associated with similar spaces.

Instead of leaning into the expected, we focused on masculine elements in a more refined way—using solid, structured furniture, bold yet sophisticated tile, and strong, modern plumbing fixtures. The result is a home that feels both elevated and rugged, balancing comfort, durability, and style in a way that perfectly suits its purpose.

Favorite part of project:

My favorite part of this project was developing a fully branded identity for the home—from the color palette and art to the overall style, everything ties together seamlessly. The home isn't just a place to stay; it’s a full sensory experience that extends into the client’s lifestyle. We achieved an elevated fishing cottage vibe while keeping it modern, refined, and full of personality—avoiding the typical, sterile vacation rental feel. This space is meant to create lasting memories, and every detail was chosen with that in mind.

Favorite Room:
The main living area is my favorite because of how it brings everything together—the vaulted ceilings, oversized art, rich textures, and layered details make it the heart of the home. It’s where people will gather, unwind, and truly experience the home’s personality.

Favorite Piece of Furniture:
I love the oversized, statement art pieces we incorporated—painted wood panels, metal sculptures, life-sized fish, and striking photography. These pieces don’t just decorate the home; they tell a story and add depth. Even down to the coffee table books and styling elements, every piece was intentionally chosen to enhance the experience of being in the space.
