Phase one was the entry and the powderbath, Phase two was exterior firepit, Phase three was the sunken livingroom and pool bath and phase four was the kids hangout room, the bar, the primary suite

inspiration for the project:

The home was originally built over 20 years ago with incredible attention to detail and craftsmanship. It featured exposed beams, a sweeping curved staircase, polished concrete floors, vaulted ceilings, and a mix of angles and curves that gave it a distinctive architectural character. Every choice felt intentional and timeless, which gave us an amazing foundation to build on. Our goal was to honor that thoughtful design while layering in more function, playful energy, and personality—making it feel fresh and reflective of the clients’ current lifestyle, while still celebrating the home they’ve loved for decades.

Unique Additions

in the powder bath, we brought in a concrete artist to skim coat the walls and existing vanity in black concrete, which instantly elevated the space. We layered it with a large-scale grasscloth wallpaper and playful black accents for added texture and depth. In the living room, we designed a custom rug with Ruggism to echo the curves of the room, then installed three oversized Visual Comfort Tech lights for drama and balance. To draw the eye up, we added handmade nautical knots climbing the fireplace—an unexpected, sculptural detail that celebrates the home’s lakefront setting.

Outside, the custom-designed concrete fire pit and oversized curved bench were truly a dream for everyone involved. The design followed the home’s architectural curves, creating a sculptural focal point that feels both modern and inviting. It took a team of skilled craftspeople to bring it to life, and the result is a gathering space that perfectly captures the home’s balance of craftsmanship, comfort, and creativity. We then were able to surround it with oversized planters filled with oversized plants.
