Client Brief:
The clients were combining two homes into one, creating a shared family home that felt warm, personal, and reflective of the lives they were bringing together. The design needed to accommodate everyday family life (including a small dog and multiple cats) while creating a cohesive home that felt intentional rather than simply combined.

RNI guided the project through floorplans, material selections, renderings, and the thoughtful integration of custom elements throughout the home.

Inspiration for the Project:
The vision was to transform an expansive home with a beautiful foundation into something warmer, more personal, and more connected to the family living there.

Rather than treating the home as a blank slate to simply fill with beautiful furnishings, we focused on how each space could support the way the family actually lives. Custom cabinetry, concealed technology, layered materials, thoughtful storage, and spaces designed for work, gathering, and everyday routines became the foundation of the design.

The result is a home that feels collected over time while being warm, functional, and personal, with plenty of room for the things and people that make it theirs.

Unique Additions
Custom built-ins became some of the most transformative elements throughout the home. In the main gathering room, large-scale cabinetry created a strong architectural focal point while providing space to display the clients’ collections and conceal a full-size television.

The office was reimagined as a true his-and-hers workspace, with extensive custom cabinetry, dedicated work areas, display shelving, a seating area, layered lighting, and patterned drapery.

Throughout the home, wallpaper, concrete finishes, trim, textiles, and lighting added warmth and personality, helping move the home away from its original gray-box feeling.

We also found opportunities to make overlooked spaces work harder for the family. An underused area became a mudroom and homework zone, while an unused room was transformed into a private bathroom. In the gym, bronze-tinted windows, wallpaper, and trim turned a practical space into one that felt intentional and inviting.

Every decision came back to the same question:
How can this space make their life better?

The result is a home designed not only to look beautiful, but to support the people—and pets—who live there.
