Client Brief:
This project was already underway when we were brought on board. The demolition had been completed, and the clients had started making design decisions. However, they quickly realized they needed someone with the creativity to make the space truly exceptional and the experience to execute it well.

The clients wanted their home to feel inviting and lived-in rather than like a museum. They desired a space that felt layered over time and was very family-friendly. Our goal was to create impressive spaces with a moody vibe. The home had enough architectural details that some of our design choices could be subtle, allowing those architectural elements to be the focal points. We aimed to balance striking design with the comfort and functionality needed for a family-friendly environment.

Inspiration for the project:

The inspiration for this house was the client's lifestyle. They are raising really cool teenagers, and we wanted to design a space that would attract both adults and teens. Whether it’s watching a game, listening to music, playing pool, or just lounging around, the goal was to create a variety of inviting spaces throughout the home. We aimed for finishes that are durable yet feature unique details that spark curiosity and make the home feel special. Our design focused on ensuring that family and friends could settle in comfortably and enjoy themselves in every part of the house.

Unique Additions

A standout feature of this project was the layering of moody colors, wallpaper, and fabrics. In the front den, we used Eskayel wallpaper printed on grass cloth above the original wood moldings, while a similar tone silk wallpaper was applied to the entry ceiling. The powder bathroom features a deep plum wallpaper paired with an amber hand-blown sconce and a burl countertop, adding a rich and unique touch.

In the primary suite, we created a contrast between the moody bathroom and the light and airy bedroom. The bathroom combines rich black, white, and brass elements with wood ceilings for a luxurious feel. The wood flooring throughout the home is maple, a favorite of ours due to its mild graining, which allows other design details to shine. This thoughtful selection of materials and colors added depth and character to each space.
