Beyond the Rebrand: Creating a Workplace That Reflects a Company's Vision

A company's identity extends far beyond its logo, color palette, or visual branding. The spaces where people work every day are also part of that identity, shaping how employees collaborate, how clients experience the business, and how the company presents itself to the world.

That’s what makes commercial interior design such a rewarding part of our work at R. Nickson Interiors. We recently completed a commercial design project for JBT Marel, partnering with their team to bring their rebrand into the physical environment and create a workspace that feels cohesive, considered, and aligned with the company's evolving vision.

Bringing a New Identity Into the Workplace

A rebrand creates an opportunity to look at a business with fresh eyes. While the visual identity may be the starting point, the next step is considering how that identity translates into the spaces people interact with every day.

For JBT Marel, this meant looking at the workplace as a whole rather than treating each room as an independent design project. Lounge areas, meeting rooms, the kitchen, and the spaces connecting them all contribute to the overall experience of the office.

Our goal was to create a consistent design direction throughout the environment, allowing each area to serve its purpose while still feeling connected to the larger vision. The result is a refreshed workplace that brings the company's evolving identity into the spaces where its team works, meets, and connects.

Designing for the Way People Work

A successful commercial space needs to do more than look polished. It needs to support the people who use it.

Meeting rooms should feel appropriate for collaboration and conversation. Lounge areas can offer a more relaxed setting for informal discussions or a moment away from a desk. Shared kitchen and gathering spaces can encourage connection throughout the workday.

These functions may seem straightforward, but the way a space is planned and designed can influence how naturally people use it. Layout, furnishings, lighting, finishes, and the relationship between different areas all play a role in creating an environment that feels intuitive and welcoming.

We approach commercial projects by considering both the overall aesthetic and the practical demands of the business. When those two elements work together, a workplace can feel elevated without sacrificing the functionality it needs to serve its team.

The Importance of a Cohesive Design

One of the most important aspects of a commercial renovation is understanding how the individual design decisions relate to one another.

A beautiful meeting room can feel disconnected if it doesn't relate to the surrounding spaces. A welcoming lounge may miss its potential if the layout doesn't support how employees actually gather. Even thoughtful material selections have a greater impact when they contribute to a clear, consistent vision.

This is why we consider the transitions between spaces just as carefully as the rooms themselves. A cohesive environment doesn't mean every area needs to look identical. Instead, it means the finishes, furnishings, proportions, and overall atmosphere feel intentional from one space to the next.

For a company navigating a rebrand, this consistency is especially meaningful. The physical workplace becomes another expression of its identity, reinforcing the experience the business wants to create for its employees and visitors.

Commercial Design With Purpose

Every business has different needs, goals, and ways of working. A design approach that works for one company may not be the right fit for another, which is why understanding the business is such an important part of the process.

At R. Nickson Interiors, we enjoy the variety that comes with commercial design. Each project presents a new opportunity to understand how a space needs to function, identify where improvements can make a difference, and create an environment that reflects the people and business behind it.

Our work with JBT Marel was an opportunity to bring those considerations together, translating a new brand direction into a thoughtfully designed workplace.

We believe the spaces where people work deserve the same level of consideration as the spaces where they live. Both should be designed around the people who use them, with a balance of function, comfort, and a clear design vision.

Planning Your Next Commercial Project

A workplace refresh can be an opportunity to do more than update finishes or furnishings. It can help a business reconsider how its spaces function, how its team interacts, and what it wants its environment to communicate.

Whether you're updating an existing office, renovating a commercial space, or bringing a new brand identity into your workplace, thoughtful planning can help ensure the final result feels cohesive and purposeful.

As we look ahead to the coming year, we're excited to connect with more businesses looking to reimagine their spaces. At R. Nickson Interiors, we bring the same considered approach to our commercial projects that guides our residential work, with an emphasis on understanding each client's needs and creating interiors that feel distinctive to them.

If your business is considering a renovation or workspace refresh, we'd love to hear about your vision and explore how thoughtful design can help bring it to life.
