What’s In My Bag: Interior Design Edition

Running a design firm means no two days look alike. Some mornings start in the studio with client presentations, others are spent sourcing fabrics and finishes, and many afternoons end on job sites making sure every detail comes together. It’s busy, it’s unpredictable, and it requires being prepared for just about anything.

That’s where my bag comes in. I keep it stocked with the essentials that help me stay focused, energized, and ready to pivot no matter what the day throws my way.

When the Florida sun is strong and the UV index hits 11, sunscreen is nonnegotiable. A notebook and pens are always close at hand for quick sketches or capturing ideas between meetings. If I’m moving from job site to job site, snacks and mints keep my energy up and my mind clear. And yes, a little lip gloss and a spritz of sandalwood help me feel refreshed after long hours in the field.

These are not just random items; they are the small tools that keep my day running smoothly. Because at the end of the day, being a designer is not just about creating beautiful spaces. It is about showing up ready, prepared, and present for every client and every project.
