Organization is your friend —  it’s time to Spring Clean!

We get it, juggling the responsibilities and multiple roles that come with everyday life can be chaotic, and understandably messy. Oftentimes, the organization of your home takes a backseat when you’re embedded in a career, raising littles or just living life to its fullest. Let's be honest, home organization is overwhelming and stressful when a mountain of your kids’ toys are staring at you or clothes from ‘08 are taking up good space in your closet.

We want to give you some attainable yet effective tips that will eliminate some of those feelings and  help you spruce up your space this spring.

Start Simple.

Take the pressure off, you don’t need to Marie Kondo your entire home in one day. And if you haven’t read her book "the life-changing magic of tyding up” we highly recommend.

Start with something like a bathroom closet, cleaning out a few cabinets, or even reorganizing the dreaded junk drawer. As soon as you get rid of a few little things, don't let them take up any more space in that “giveaway pile”. Take them to a care center or give them away to a friend the same day or the next! The result of doing this is, the stuff is officially gone and there are no lingering to do’s.

…A simple start leads to a big win.

A rule of thumb to follow and a few questions to ask yourself are:

  • Have I worn this in the last 6 months (excluding seasonal clothing).

  • Is this object practical for my life currently?

  • Do I need the quantity I currently have of this item or could I eliminate some?

  • What is the purpose of this item in my home?

Once you have gotten rid of a few things and see the new space available, it's time to order the fun stuff! New organizational bins, decorative items, floral stems and best of all, the relief that a part of your home feels brand new. Shop our favorite organization items on our LTK!

Give everything a home.

At the end of the day, give all your items a home. Everything has a place and this is where it lives until it’s needed. Once the item has served its purpose, put it back in its ‘home’. It could be storage bins, a space in the hall closet, or a spot on the shelf.

This rule eliminates the stress of not knowing where things are when you need them and keeps you from accumulating and hiding random stuff around the house.

Kids Organization.

If you have kid(s) you know how easy it is for a tornado to rip through your home in 0.2 seconds. Sometimes, it's honestly impressive and equally as frustrating how quickly little humans can make a mess. Here are a few tips that allow your kids to still be rooted in play and also allow your home to feel organized.

  • Categorized bins are your bestie. They make a ton of affordable bin options that live on the aesthetically pleasing side of the kid play world and aren't completely outdated.

  • Shelving is a great option for kid organization. One of our the most effective tips is to rotate toys. Alternating everyday toys every few months not only feels special for your little one but also provides more floor space. Equaling less clean up and room for good design to live.

  • Getting rid of or donating shoes, clothes and toys that are no longer being used is always a win. A win for you and a win for the person receiving.

Cleaning Green.

Feel better with green cleaning products—literally. Unlike conventional cleaning products, you’ll know that what you’re using won’t harm you, your family, or your pets. Symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, skin rashes, headaches, and more may disappear once you stop using toxic cleaning chemicals.

Considering many of the hazardous chemicals in conventional products are often carcinogens, neurotoxins, and mutagens it is worth ditching them in favor of natural eco-friendly products.

Small children and pets are especially vulnerable due to higher exposure levels because of their size. Plus, household cleaning supplies are among the top ten substances responsible for poisoning exposure in the United States. So, minimize your risk with green cleaning products that aren't toxic or as dangerous.
